Michel Doove

My name is Michel Doove. I was born in 1979 and have worked in the drinks trade since my teenage years. In 2018, I was given the opportunity to become co-owner of Wijn- en Whiskyspecialist van der Boog and the Passion for Whisky webshop. Naturally, I grabbed that opportunity with both hands, because who wouldn’t want to own the finest specialist drinks shop in the Netherlands?

Whisky has been flowing through my veins for around 30 years, but I am equally fascinated by wine, cognac, armagnac, rum and other exceptional drinks. Together with Stefan, I regularly select exclusive casks and bottlings for our shop and webshop. We also release our own carefully chosen spirits as the independent bottler Boogieman Import. It is a craft in its own right, in which tasting, comparing, strong connections and sometimes simply a little luck are indispensable.

What I enjoy most about our work is meeting fellow enthusiasts and sharing the stories behind the bottle. In my blogs, I therefore discuss not only what I taste, but especially where a drink comes from, who made it and what makes it special. After all, knowing the story often makes a fine dram taste even better.

Together with Stefan, I regularly select exclusive casks and bottlings for our shop and webshop. We also release distinctive spirits under the name Boogieman Import, our independent bottling company. What I enjoy most about our work is meeting fellow enthusiasts and sharing the stories behind the bottle. In my blogs, I therefore discuss not only what I taste, but more importantly where a drink comes from, who made it and what makes it special. After all, knowing the story often makes a fine glass taste even better.
