Tasting note
Nose
Approaching the glass, the nose produces an explosion of fruity aromas. Ripe peaches and juicy apricots mingle with notes of sweet citrus fruits such as mandarin and grapefruit. Subtle mineral notes of wet chalky earth.
Taste
The first sip reveals a lush complexity that envelops the taste in velvety warmth. The fruity character remains prominent, with juicy apricots joining prunes and dates. A subtle spicy undertone of cinnamon and nutmeg adds complexity, while delicate notes of roasted almonds and hazelnuts provide a pleasant nuance.
Finish
The finish is long-lasting and satisfying, with the same fruity and nutty notes blending harmoniously. A subtle hint of mineral terroir lingers, rancio, creating a refreshing and vibrant finish.
This Cognac from the Bons Bois cru offers an inviting balance between fruity vibrancy, mineral complexity and nutty depth.
More information
This Cognac was distilled in Chermignac in '55 by Vallein-Tercinier with wine from their best vines in the Bons Bois appellation.
This plot of vineyards located next to the municipal cemetery is called “La Champagne” because the soil has almost the same characteristics as certain soils in the Petite Champagne appellation. The Cognacs made with wine from this vine have a very special character, very fruity with some floral and mineral notes. It matured for 55 years in Limousin oak casks in a humid cellar ("chais humide") and was then stored since 2010 as 4 dame-jeannes (demi-johns).

Malternative Belgium
Malternative Belgium, led by Pieter Knapen, is a unique independent bottler that has specialised in bottling cognac and Pineau des Charentes. This is special because most independent bottlers focus on whisky or rum, while Malternative Belgium, led by Knapen, has deliberately chosen these French spirits.
