Boogieman Beer Society has partnered with Eggens Craft Beer from Groningen to regularly select unique and flavorful beers. Beers with an alcohol content of at least 10% are perfect for aging, while the "lighter" beers are a delight to enjoy right away.

What is zwaar blond?

Zwaar Blond, or Strong Blond, is a popular beer style originating in Belgium, where craftsmanship and the tradition of brewing flavorful and characterful beers are highly valued. This beer style is known for its combination of a relatively high alcohol content (typically between 6.5% and 9%) and a light, approachable flavor. It’s a well-balanced style that appeals to a broad audience.

Our Zwaar Blond showcases a radiant golden color with a creamy white foam head. On the nose, it reveals fruity aromas of ripe banana, subtle citrus, and delicate spicy notes. The flavor is full-bodied and malty, with sweet hints of honey and caramel, balanced by a gentle hop bitterness. The finish is warm, slightly spicy, and pleasantly alcoholic without being harsh.

Appearance

The beer presents itself beautifully with a clear golden hue and a thick, creamy white head that lingers nicely. The soft carbonation adds a sparkling touch that enhances its fresh appeal.

Nose

A harmonious and complex bouquet unfolds on the nose, dominated by ripe banana, complemented by notes of light citrus such as mandarin and a hint of orange zest. Subtle spicy hints of coriander and white pepper add depth and sophistication to the aroma.

Taste

The first sip is full and rounded, showcasing a rich maltiness right away. Sweet accents of honey and caramel provide a soft and approachable entry. A gentle hop bitterness balances the sweetness, while the fruity notes—particularly banana and citrus—carry through beautifully.
