Westvleteren is brewed at St Sixtus Abbey in Westvleteren, in the quiet countryside of Belgium’s Westhoek region. It is a true Trappist brewery, meaning the beer is brewed within the abbey walls under the supervision of the monks, and the profits support the monastery and charitable causes. Production is intentionally small and distribution is kept tightly controlled, which is why the beers remain scarce and are often only available through the abbey itself.
