Heaven's Door is a relatively new but highly renowned brand in the US whiskey world. Co-founded by legendary musician Bob Dylan, the brand is known for its craftsmanship and artistic approach to whiskey making. The Heaven's Door 10 Years Decade Series II is part of their exclusive and limited "Decade Series," which includes rare, aged bourbon and rye whiskeys.

Tasting note

Nose

The nose opens with rich aromas of dried fruits, such as sultanas and plums, mixed with deep notes of vanilla and toffee. There is a subtle presence of toasted oak, along with hints of cinnamon, clove and a hint of dark chocolate. The aroma is complex and invites further exploration.

Flavour

On the tongue, the Decade Series II has a wonderfully full and rich flavour. The attack is sweet and creamy, with flavours of butterscotch, vanilla and ripe cherries. As the whiskey develops, deeper notes of dark chocolate and toasted almonds emerge, along with a spicy spiciness of cinnamon and nutmeg. The oak influence is evident but not overwhelming, providing a good balance between sweetness and spiciness

Finish

The aftertaste is long, rich and warming, with lingering notes of vanilla, oak and a hint of tobacco. There is also a slight hint of espresso beans and dark chocolate in the finish, making for a satisfying and layered end to the drinking experience.

Heaven’s Door is an American whiskey brand launched in 2018 by musician and artist Bob Dylan and spirits entrepreneur Marc Bushala. The brand grew from a shared interest in American whiskey, craftsmanship and storytelling. Its name refers to Dylan’s song Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door, while the raised designs on the bottles are based on his own welded iron gate sculptures.

The original range consisted of Tennessee Straight Bourbon, Double Barrel Whiskey and Straight Rye. Heaven’s Door selects whiskey from different American distilleries and uses blending, additional maturation and distinctive cask finishes to create its own identity. American and French oak both play important roles. The whiskey is known for a rich, approachable style with caramel, vanilla, ripe fruit and warming wood spice.

Alongside its core bottlings, Heaven’s Door releases limited collections such as the Bootleg and Decade Series, often featuring older whiskey and unusual finishes. The company also developed its own distillery in Pleasureville, Kentucky, where bourbon has been produced since 2018. Heaven’s Door therefore evolved from a creative collaboration into an established American whiskey producer.
