Lindores The Exclusive Cask #19/2819
Cask number 19/2819 is a former Australian red wine barrique. The Dutch importer says: "It is the odd one out, but one that positively surprised us during our visit to the distillery. We are therefore pleased that we were allowed to bottle this cask for the BeNeLux."
Tasting note
Nose
It is like cycling on your bike among the bulb fields in bloom. Spring in the glass. Lemon, honey, tumtum and classic sweets. What a wealth of fragrance. Freshly polished copper is also mentioned. This is young, but what a powerhouse. Little drop of water opens up the scent even more.
Taste
Friendly and very flavourful whisky especially considering this is over 61% alcohol. Yellow fruit, hints of cinnamon, roses and lilies and freshly ground pepper. With a small sip of water it gets a little spicier, but how perfectly balanced this is.
Finish
Marsmallow with orange zest, but what lingers longest are the spices and then the pepper in particular.
Overall impression
Some casks really rise above the rest. This cask is a good example of that. The red wine cask did a fine job of taming this young powerhouse and balancing it completely.
Lindores Distillery
Lindores Abbey Distillery is located in Newburgh, Fife, on the banks of the River Tay in Scotland. Established in 2017, the distillery is located on the historic site of Lindores Abbey, where, according to historical sources, the first written mention of whisky production in Scotland took place in 1494.
The distillery combines modern craftsmanship with a deep respect for its historical roots. Lindores Abbey uses locally grown barley and water from a nearby spring. The production process includes traditional copper pot stills, contributing to the production of a quality single malt whisky. Lindores Abbey's whisky is known for its fruity and spicy character, with subtle hints of apple, cinnamon and vanilla.
A specific feature of Lindores Abbey Distillery is its commitment to sustainability, with a focus on renewable energy sources and environmentally friendly practices.
