Penderyn Brandy Finish Single Cask B7 for Passion for Whisky

Exclusive, small-batch brilliance – that's what you’ll find in this rare Penderyn Brandy Finish Single Cask B7. Matured in a tiny bloodtub cask and bottled exclusively for Passion for Whisky, only 32 bottles were drawn from this one-of-a-kind release. Distilled in August 2018 and bottled in April 2025 at a bold 57.4%, this single malt offers a stunning showcase of rich fruit, subtle spice, and graceful oak influence.

Tasting Notes

Nose

A dominant wave of dried fruits such as figs, raisins, and sultanas. Subtle hints of cinnamon and nutmeg bring warmth, all balanced by a gentle honeyed sweetness.

Palate

Rich and smooth with layers of raisin, baked apple, and vanilla sweetness. Oak spice adds structure, while a slight citrus tang keeps the profile lively.

Finish

Soft and lingering. Fruity and honeyed notes persist, harmonised with a light touch of oak.

Penderyn Distillery

Penderyn Distillery is located in the picturesque village of Penderyn, on the edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park in Wales. Founded in 2000, Penderyn is the first distillery to produce whisky in Wales in over a century, and has quickly established itself as a pioneer in the modern whisky industry.

A unique feature of Penderyn is the use of a specially designed Faraday still, developed by Dr David Faraday, a descendant of the famous scientist Michael Faraday. This unique still makes for a purer distillate and a lighter, fruitier flavour profile. The whiskies are mainly matured in carefully selected ex-bourbon and madeira casks, ensuring a rich and complex flavour.

Penderyn whiskies are known for their smooth, elegant flavour with notes of tropical fruit, vanilla, honey and a hint of spice. The combination of a beautiful location, unique distilling equipment and a commitment to quality makes Penderyn a respected name in the world of whisky.

Penderyn Distillery

Penderyn is a Welsh whisky distillery that emerged in the late 1990s from a plan by a group of friends to produce whisky in Wales again after more than a century. Production began in 2000 in the village of Penderyn, near the Brecon Beacons National Park. The first Penderyn Single Malt Welsh Whisky was released on St David’s Day in 2004, marking the revival of a Welsh distilling tradition that had almost disappeared.

A defining element of the house style is the specially designed Faraday still. It combines a copper pot still with a rectifying column, producing a clean, light and fruity spirit. Penderyn matures and finishes its whisky in a wide range of casks, including bourbon, Madeira, sherry, port and wine casks. The Madeira Finish in particular became one of the distillery’s signature expressions.

From its original site, Penderyn expanded with distilleries in Llandudno and at Swansea’s historic Copperworks. Its fresh spirit character, adventurous cask selection and strong Welsh identity have helped place Welsh whisky firmly back on the international map.
