Tasting notes:
Colour: Mahogany with a hint of henna.
Nose: In the aroma, it is clear we are dealing with a sherry cask. Café latte, mocha beans, furniture wax. After a while, more forest fragrances follow: mushrooms, moss and leaves. The smell of a smouldering cigar completes the picture.
Taste: What a rich taste, delicious sweetness of the PX and a lot of mocca beans and café frappé. Hint of Grand Marnier with toffee notes. Strong black tea with a spoonful of sugar. Dark vanilla fudge combined with cigar leaf.
Finish: For the relatively low alcohol for a cask strength whisky, the finish is surprisingly long. The sweet tea aroma with the mocha beans lingers on the palate.
Overall: A luxurious everyman’s friend that fits perfectly with an evening under the porch with a nice cigar. Rein Jan from cigar shop de Oude Leeuw recommends the Cohiba Behike as a perfect pairing.
