Longmorn is a popular distillery located in Speyside, Scotland. Over the years, Longmorn has been a very important ingredient in a lot of different blended whiskies. As a result, a large part of the production has always been sold to the various blenders and Longmorn has always been hard to come by as a single malt.
A fun fact about Longmorn is that it has real cult status in Japan, and perhaps not least because of its connection with Nikka founder Masatake Taketsuru, who modelled Yoichi's stills after Longmorn's.
In the 1970s and 1980s, Gordon & MacPhail obtained a licence to officially market Longmorn as a Single Malt. Through this partnership, the independent bottler still has access to the finest casks from this particular distillery. The quality is always good to very good, but this single malt distilled in 1964 can best be called formidable!!!
