Description
Asbach Original 3 years is the youngest expression from the respected Asbach house – but don’t let its youth fool you. Crafted from fine base wines and matured for three years in Limousin oak casks near the edge of the Black Forest, this brandy is light, elegant, and wonderfully approachable. A great introduction to German brandy and a versatile mixer with a touch of heritage.
Tasting note
Nose

Fresh and fruity, with aromas of white grapes, vanilla, a touch of floral honey, and gentle oak. Slightly citrusy with a hint of apricot.

Palate

Soft, mildly spiced, and pleasantly rounded. Flavours of pear, grape must, gentle oak, and a note of vanilla cream. Elegant and easy-drinking without any harshness.

Finish

Short to medium, with a light sweetness, soft oak, and floral freshness. Clean and smooth – perfect for those who enjoy subtlety.

Asbach

Asbach is one of the best known names in the German brandy tradition. The house was founded in Rüdesheim am Rhein in 1892 by Hugo Asbach, who had learned the craft of wine distillation in France. His ambition was to produce high quality brandy in Germany according to the same meticulous principles. Asbach became a household name and played an important role in establishing and popularising German Weinbrand.

Production takes place at the company’s own wine distillery in Rüdesheim. Selected wines undergo several distillations through the traditional Rauhbrand and Feinbrand process, with only the desired heart of the spirit retained. This is followed by an unusually long period of cask maturation. The spirit initially ages in Limousin oak before continuing its maturation in German oak casks, after which the different components are carefully brought together.

Asbach Uralt became the house’s best known expression, while the range also includes more extensively matured brandies and distinctive cask finishes. Asbach therefore represents more than a century of German distilling tradition, built around wine, careful distillation and extended oak maturation.
