Description
Grappa Marolo 15 years is a premium, long-aged grappa from the Italian distillery Marolo, based in Piedmont. This grappa is distilled from Nebbiolo grapes, known from the Barolo wines, and aged for 15 years in carefully selected small oak barrels. This long ageing gives the grappa a deep amber colour and a rich, complex flavour experience.
Tasting note
Nose

On the nose, Grappa Marolo 15 years offers a sophisticated blend of dried fruits, such as figs and dates, with notes of vanilla, honey and a hint of cocoa.

Taste

On the palate, the grappa develops a soft, almost creamy texture, with flavours of caramel, toasted nuts and subtle spices such as cinnamon and nutmeg. The oak influence provides warm woody undertones and a hint of leather.

Finish

The finish is long and intense, with lingering notes of vanilla, dark chocolate and a pleasant warmth. A luxurious choice for lovers of complex, mature distillates, Grappa Marolo 15 years offers a deep, sophisticated drinking experience.

Marolo

Marolo is an Italian grappa producer based in Alba, in the heart of Piedmont. The house was founded in 1977 by Paolo Marolo, who taught herbalism and liqueur making at the local oenology school. With Distilleria Santa Teresa, he wanted to give grappa a new status: not simply as a way of using leftover grape pomace, but as a high quality spirit in which grape variety and origin remain clearly recognisable.

Marolo works closely with wine producers from areas including the Langhe, Roero and Monferrato. Fresh grape pomace is distilled in small batches using discontinuous bain marie stills. From an early stage, Paolo Marolo focused on single variety grappas, with particular attention to Nebbiolo and pomace from Barolo production. The house later went even further by creating grappas from individual vineyards.

Cask maturation also plays an important role. Since 1980, Marolo has experimented with different woods, cask sizes and extended ageing periods, including the use of acacia. The original character of the grape must always remain recognisable. With Paolo’s son Lorenzo joining the family business, this combination of craftsmanship, terroir and experimentation continued into a new generation.
