Zuidam Cassis Liqueur

Nose

Intense dark fruit with blackcurrant, blackberry and a hint of leafy greenness. Behind that: gentle sweetness and a small spicy edge that keeps it grown up.

Palate

Full and juicy with rich cassis and a lively tart lift. Sweetness is present but not heavy, with a slightly jammy depth and a light tannic grip that suits blackcurrant perfectly.

Finish

Medium length and fresh with lingering blackcurrant, subtle herbal spice and a clean, lightly drying close.

Zuidam Distillers is an independent Dutch family distillery based in Baarle-Nassau. The company was founded in 1976 by Fred and Hélène van Zuidam, who began producing artisanal liqueurs and genever. The second generation, brothers Patrick and Gilbert van Zuidam, now leads the family business, which has developed into one of the most versatile distilleries in the Netherlands.

Zuidam deliberately keeps much of the production process in house. Spirits and extracts are made within the family distillery from natural ingredients, without artificial flavours, colours or aromas. For whisky and genever, grain, extended fermentation, slow distillation in small copper stills and carefully controlled cask maturation all play important roles.

Alongside Zuidam Genever, the house produces Dutch Courage Gin, Flying Dutchman Rum, liqueurs, vodka and Millstone Whisky. The first experimental casks for Millstone were filled in 1996. This broad experience with distillation, botanicals, grain and oak gives Zuidam a distinctive identity in which Dutch tradition and continued curiosity naturally come together.
