Description
Zuidam Orange Liqueur à Base de Cognac is not a simple orange liqueur, but a richer style where cognac adds depth and a more grown up character. Think fresh orange peel and citrus oils, alongside warm notes of oak, vanilla and gentle spice. Great neat, over ice, in a classic cocktail like a Sidecar, or as a luxurious citrus layer in desserts.
Tasting note
Nose

Bright and aromatic with orange peel, citrus oil and a touch of mandarin. Behind that come warm cognac notes: vanilla, gentle oak and a hint of dried fruit.

Palate

Rounded and rich with candied orange and marmalade, followed by a warm cognac backbone with vanilla and light oak spice. The balance between sweet and fresh stays sharp, with a small peel bitterness keeping it focused.

Finish

Medium length and warming with lingering orange, a soft cognac glow and a lightly spicy, elegant close.

Zuidam Distillers

Zuidam Distillers is an independent Dutch family distillery based in Baarle-Nassau. The company was founded in 1976 by Fred and Hélène van Zuidam, who began producing artisanal liqueurs and genever. The second generation, brothers Patrick and Gilbert van Zuidam, now leads the family business, which has developed into one of the most versatile distilleries in the Netherlands.

Zuidam deliberately keeps much of the production process in house. Spirits and extracts are made within the family distillery from natural ingredients, without artificial flavours, colours or aromas. For whisky and genever, grain, extended fermentation, slow distillation in small copper stills and carefully controlled cask maturation all play important roles.

Alongside Zuidam Genever, the house produces Dutch Courage Gin, Flying Dutchman Rum, liqueurs, vodka and Millstone Whisky. The first experimental casks for Millstone were filled in 1996. This broad experience with distillation, botanicals, grain and oak gives Zuidam a distinctive identity in which Dutch tradition and continued curiosity naturally come together.
