Big Peat Christmas Edition 2017 is the seventh festive bottling in Douglas Laing’s series of cask strength Islay Blended Malts. As always, this release is unchill-filtered and free of colouring – raw, bold, and bursting with Islay character. A blend of top Islay single malts including Ardbeg, Caol Ila, Bowmore and Port Ellen creates a dram as intense as a winter gale on the west coast of Scotland. The perfect gift for lovers of peat, wrapped in a cheerful holiday theme with a serious smoky punch.

Tasting Notes

Nose

A powerful burst of smoke with charcoal, seaweed, leather and a hint of tar. Followed by aromas of lime, smoked ham and a salty sea breeze.

Palate

Full-bodied, mouth-coating and intensely smoky. Expect peat smoke, roasted nuts, black pepper and a touch of sweet vanilla. Slightly maritime and gently medicinal.

Finish

Long and powerful with lingering ash, sea salt, oak and a warm, spicy note that carries through beautifully.
