North British 15 Years 2009 - 2025 100 Proof Edition #2

North British 15 Years 2009 - 2025 100 Proof Edition #2 is a refined single grain whisky from one of Scotland's most renowned grain distilleries. Bottled by Signatory Vintage at an impressive 57.1% ABV (100 Proof), this whisky delivers a deep and full-bodied experience. The maturation in a combination of first-fill Oloroso sherry butts and bourbon casks creates a perfect balance between rich sherry notes and sweet vanilla influences. This is a powerful yet smooth dram with a distinctive character and a luxurious texture.

Tasting Notes

Nose

Sweet aromas of caramel, vanilla, and dried fruits, with hints of raisins and figs from the Oloroso sherry casks. There’s also a touch of roasted almonds and a hint of cinnamon.

Taste

Creamy and full-bodied, with layers of butterscotch, toffee, and milk chocolate. The sherry influence shines through with notes of candied orange, dark cherries, and a subtle hint of spices like nutmeg and clove.

Finish

Long and warming, with lingering notes of oak, mocha, and dried fruit. The combination of sweetness and spice lingers harmoniously, making every sip a pleasure.

North British Distillery

Established in 1885, North British Distillery is one of Scotland's largest and oldest grain distilleries. Located in Edinburgh, on the south-west side of the city, the distillery plays a key role in producing grain whisky for some of Scotland's best-known blends, such as Johnnie Walker and Famous Grouse. Its location near abundant water sources and the port of Leith makes North British ideal for large-scale production and logistics.

The distillery was established as a partnership between several whisky producers to compete with the dominant Scotch Whisky Distillers. Today, North British is owned by Diageo and Edrington, two industry heavyweights.

North British produces high-quality grain whiskies, mostly made from corn and sometimes wheat, distilled in column stills. The whiskies are known for their light and smooth character, with subtle notes of vanilla, honey and a hint of citrus, perfect as a base for blends or in independent bottlings.
