Tasting note
Nose
The nose opens with fresh, earthy tones reminiscent of freshly plowed fields, accompanied by aromas of green apple, peach, and a hint of lemon. Subtle notes of vanilla and caramel weave through, while a light saltiness and a hint of smoke add an extra layer of complexity.
Taste
On the palate, this whisky is full-bodied and layered. Flavors of malt and nutty accents blend beautifully with sweeter notes of honey and ripe pear. The peat smoke is present yet soft and well-integrated, creating a harmonious balance. A light spiciness from white pepper and ginger brings warmth and depth to the flavor profile.
Finish
The finish is long and dry, with lingering malty notes and a subtle hint of salt. As the smoke fades, notes of oak, caramel, and a touch of fruitiness remain, providing a complex and satisfying aftertaste that invites another sip.
Springbank distillery
Springbank Distillery is located in Campbeltown, a historic whisky region on Scotland's Kintyre Peninsula. Founded in 1828 by the Mitchell family, it is one of the oldest independent distilleries in Scotland and one of the few remaining distilleries in Campbeltown, once known as the "whisky capital of the world."
Springbank Distillery is unique in its complete control over the production process, with all steps - from malting to bottling - taking place on one site. The distillery produces three different single malt whiskies: Springbank, Hazelburn and Longrow.
Springbank whisky is lightly peated and partially triple-distilled, creating a complex and rich flavour profile with notes of fruit, saltiness and a subtle smokiness. Hazelburn is unpeated and triple-distilled, making it a smooth, delicate whisky with light, sweet and malty notes. Longrow is heavily peated and double-distilled, resulting in a robust and smoky whisky with rich, earthy flavours.
The diversity in production methods and flavour profiles makes Springbank Distillery a unique and valued player in the whisky world.
