Blair Athol 8 years 2015 - 2024
We chose an 8-year-old Blair Athol, aged in carefully selected port barriques. This expression celebrates the deep connection between whisky and the rich tradition of port wine, with an enticing flavour profile infused with red fruits, subtle spices and a velvety finish.
Tasting note
Nose
A very inviting nose, imbued with full-bodied fruity aromas. Ripe red berries, such as strawberries and raspberries, mingle with sweet notes of port wine, adding depth and complexity to the nose. Subtle hints of oak and dark chocolate develop over time.
Taste
At the first sip, Blair Athol reveals a delectable palate imbued with the sweetness of red fruits and the richness of port wine. Juicy berries, such as blackberries and blueberries, are enveloped by velvety notes of caramelised sugar and dark chocolate. The influence of the port barrique adds a subtle but noticeable complexity, with a hint of red fruit jam and a hint of spicy oak.
Finish
The finish of this Blair Athol is lush and satisfying. The sweet notes of ripe fruit linger long on the tongue, while the warmth of the port wine and oak leave a pleasant glow. A subtle dryness develops in the aftertaste, creating a perfectly balanced and long-lasting finish that invites another sip.
Blair Athol Distillery
Blair Athol Distillery is located in the picturesque town of Pitlochry, in the Scottish Highlands, on the banks of the Allt Dour Burn. Founded in 1798 by John Stewart and Robert Robertson, Blair Athol is one of the oldest working distilleries in Scotland. The distillery is best known as a key component in the famous Bell's blended whisky.
A specific feature of Blair Athol is the use of water from the Allt Dour Burn, which contributes to the whiskies' rich and full flavour profile. Blair Athol whiskies are known for their robust and fruity character, with notes of dried fruits, nuts, and a subtle hint of spices and honey.
