GlenDronach 26 years 1989 - 2016 Single Cask #2662

The founding of The GlenDronach distillery took place in 1826 in the town of Forgue near Huntly in the Highlands, Scotland. With almost 200 years of experience, The GlenDronach distillery is one of the oldest in the Highlands and a truly traditional distillery that still mainly uses maturation in sherry casks.

Since 2007, The GlenDronach has presented a series under the name: Single Cask Whiskies. Batch 14 was launched in October 2016.

True to their tradition, The GlenDronach mainly uses carefully selected sherry casks handcrafted at renowned sherry bodegas from southern Spain (Jerez de la Frontera and Sanlúcar de Barrameda)

Origin and bottling

Distilled on 21 December of the year 1989 and finally bottled in September 2016 after a 26-year maturation. This Single Cask Whisky is the perfect example of craftsmanship from this renowned Highlands distillery.

After very careful selection, cask 2662 was selected and finally bottled at cask strength without colouring and filtering. This resulted in 557 bottles.

Cask type

This Single Cask Whisky has spent over two and a half decades on an Oloroso Sherry Butt. This cask has allowed this GlenDronach to gain unparalleled depth and enormous complexity.

Appearance

Deep amber.

Nose

Peppery oak and spices flood through stewed dark fruits and dries apricots. Subtle hints of orange peel add crisp notes to a vibrant nose.

Palate

Sour plums drenched in dark molasses with a hint of orange marmalade, all surrounded by rich espresso and cigar box spices.,
