Glenlochy Distillery
Glenlochy Distillery was located in the town of Fort William, at the foot of Ben Nevis in the Scottish Highlands. Founded in 1898 by David McAndie during the 'whisky boom', Glenlochy had an eventful history with several closures and re-openings, before finally closing for good in 1983.
A specific feature of Glenlochy was the production of a classic Highland single malt whisky, characterised by its robust and complex flavour profile. The whiskies were known for their rich notes of malt, honey and a subtle spiciness. Glenlochy used water from the nearby River Nevis, which contributed to the purity and uniqueness of their whisky.
The whisky matured mainly in ex-bourbon casks, which ensured a balanced and deep flavour. Although the distillery is now closed and the buildings have been repurposed, the remaining bottles of Glenlochy remain highly sought after by aficionados, collectors and investors due to their rarity and historical value. Glenlochy remains a respected part of Scotch whisky history, remembered for the exceptional quality of its single malts.
Cadenhead
Cadenhead, known in full as William Cadenhead Ltd, is the world's oldest independent bottler of Scotch whisky. Founded in 1842 in Aberdeen, Scotland, the company is known for its high-quality, authentic whiskies and other spirits. Cadenhead has a long and rich history and enjoys worldwide esteem among whisky lovers and collectors.
History
Cadenhead was founded in 1842 by George Duncan, but soon William Cadenhead, Duncan's brother-in-law, took over the company. Under his leadership, the company grew into a respected name in the whisky trade. Initially known as a wine and spirits merchant, Cadenhead soon developed into a leading bottler of Scotch whisky. In 1972, the company was sold to J. & A. Mitchell & Co. Ltd, the parent company of Springbank Distillery in Campbeltown. This marked a new phase in Cadenhead's history, integrating the company with one of Scotland's best-known distilleries.
