Glenturret Triple Wood 2025 Release

Glenturret Triple Wood is an expression that perfectly showcases the art of cask maturation. Aged in a combination of American oak, European oak ex-sherry and Bourbon casks, this whisky develops a rich and versatile character. The harmony between these different wood types results in a whisky with a smooth and well-balanced complexity. The outcome is an elegant single malt with a beautiful interplay of sweetness, spice, and subtle wood influence.

Tasting note

Nose

An inviting aroma with notes of vanilla, honey, and butterscotch. Rich hints of dried fruits such as raisins and figs are complemented by subtle spicy accents of cinnamon and nutmeg.

Taste

Soft and full-bodied with a creamy texture. Sweet caramel and honey blend seamlessly with hints of roasted nuts, citrus, and a touch of milk chocolate. The sherry casks introduce a light note of dried fruit and spices.

Finish

Long and elegant with lingering notes of oak, gentle spices, and a subtle sweetness of toffee and dried fruit. The balance between the three wood types remains beautifully present in the aftertaste.

Glenturret Distillery

Glenturret Distillery is located in the picturesque area of Crieff, in the Scottish Highlands, on the banks of the River Turret. Founded in 1763, Glenturret is considered one of the oldest distilleries still operating in Scotland. With a rich history dating back to the illicit distilling practices of the 18th century, Glenturret has built a strong reputation.

A unique feature of Glenturret is the use of traditional production methods which contributes to the unique and high-quality whiskies. Glenturret single malts are known for their smooth, complex and well-balanced flavour profile, often with notes of fruit, honey, malt and a slight spiciness.

The whisky is mainly matured in a combination of ex-bourbon and sherry casks, creating a rich and refined flavour. The combination of an idyllic location, traditional techniques and high-quality whiskies makes Glenturret a respected name in the world of Scotch single malt whisky.

Glenturret Distillery

The Glenturret Distillery stands at The Hosh near Crieff, beside the River Turret in Perthshire. Its earliest known record dates from 1763, when a rental document referred to Thurot Distillery. Thomas MacInnes acquired the business in 1814 and renamed it Hosh Distillery; the Glenturret name was adopted from 1873. Brothers David and William Mitchell took control in 1890 and introduced the whisky to international markets. High duties, American Prohibition and economic decline eventually brought production to a halt in 1923.

After more than thirty silent years, James Fairlie revived the distillery in 1957. He restored its original equipment and established one of Scotland’s earliest distillery visitor centres in 1980. In 2019, The Glenturret was acquired by a joint venture led by Lalique Group and Hansjörg Wyss. The focus subsequently shifted from supplying malt for blends to producing its own single malt range. The Glenturret is distinguished by small-scale production and unusually slow distillation in hand-beaten copper stills. In 2025, it also began its transition towards entirely unpeated production.
