Glenturret 7 years Peat Smoked 2024 Release
Glenturret 7 years Peat Smoked is a remarkable expression of a smoky Highland whisky. As one of Scotland's oldest working distilleries, Glenturret has created a beautifully balanced whisky that showcases both peat smoke and sweet undertones. The smoke is prominent but not overpowering, allowing fruity and spicy influences from the maturation process to shine through. After seven years of aging, this whisky has developed a rich character, offering an accessible yet complex tasting experience for lovers of peated whisky.
Tasting note
Nose
A rich and smoky aroma with notes of smoldering campfire, ash, and a subtle hint of sea breeze. Behind the peat smoke, hints of ripe pears, vanilla, and light citrus emerge, accompanied by a gentle touch of spicy oak influence.
Taste
Full-bodied and smoky, yet well-balanced. The peat smoke is bold and dry, with undertones of roasted nuts, honey, and a touch of caramel. Fruity notes of apple and orange provide a refreshing contrast, while black pepper and cinnamon add a spicy depth.
Finish
Long and warming, with lingering smoke and a subtle sweetness. The oak influence remains present in the background, while a hint of dark chocolate and roasted malt elegantly round off the whisky.
Glenturret Distillery
Glenturret Distillery is located in the picturesque area of Crieff, in the Scottish Highlands, on the banks of the River Turret. Founded in 1763, Glenturret is considered one of the oldest distilleries still operating in Scotland. With a rich history dating back to the illicit distilling practices of the 18th century, Glenturret has built a strong reputation.
A unique feature of Glenturret is the use of traditional production methods which contributes to the unique and high-quality whiskies. Glenturret single malts are known for their smooth, complex and well-balanced flavour profile, often with notes of fruit, honey, malt and a slight spiciness.
The whisky is mainly matured in a combination of ex-bourbon and sherry casks, creating a rich and refined flavour. The combination of an idyllic location, traditional techniques and high-quality whiskies makes Glenturret a respected name in the world of Scotch single malt whisky.
