Jura Bourbon Cask
Jura Bourbon Cask is a single malt whisky that captures the pure charm of the Isle of Jura. Inspired by the remote and rugged beauty of this Scottish island, this whisky offers a delightfully light and approachable drinking experience. Aged in traditional American ex-bourbon barrels, it highlights Jura’s sweet and fruity character with subtle coastal influences. It’s perfect for both whisky newcomers and seasoned connoisseurs seeking a simple yet refined dram.
Tasting note
Nose
On the nose, creamy aromas of vanilla, honey, and toffee mingle with fresh apple, pear, and a hint of coconut. A touch of citrus zest adds a refreshing brightness.
Taste
The first sip reveals a soft and pleasant whisky, beautifully balanced between sweetness and gentle spice. Flavors of butterscotch, caramel, and tropical fruit come forward, while the subtle influence of oak provides a delicate spiciness. In the background, a faint hint of salinity nods to Jura’s coastal heritage.
Finish
The finish is medium-length, clean, and warming, with lingering notes of vanilla and a touch of citrus.
Jura Distillery
Jura Distillery is located on the island of Jura, off the west coast of Scotland, known for its rugged beauty and remote location. Founded in 1810, the distillery has a rich history of whisky production, but was closed in the early 20th century. In 1963, Jura Distillery was reopened by local entrepreneurs Robin Fletcher and Tony Riley-Smith, bringing new life to the island community.
A specific feature of Jura Distillery is the use of both non-peated and lightly-peated barley, resulting in a wide range of flavour profiles. The distillery produces whiskies that range from light and fruity to rich and smoky. The whisky is mainly matured in American oak bourbon casks, with occasional use of sherry and wine casks for added complexity.
Jura whiskies are known for their smooth and approachable character, with distinctive notes of citrus, honey, spices and a subtle smoke. The unique combination of traditional methods and innovative maturation techniques makes Jura a beloved name in the world of Scotch whisky.
