Tasting note

Nose

The nose opens with a rich, maritime smoke reminiscent of a briny beach at low tide, combined with aromas of ripe pear, green apple, and a hint of citrus. Subtle notes of vanilla and honey soften the profile, while a touch of spice and toasted oak linger in the background.

Palate

On the palate, this whisky is full-bodied and intense. Peat smoke is dominant but beautifully balanced by sweet accents of honey, caramel, and ripe peach. A light minerality and spicy hints of white pepper and ginger add depth, and a delicate hint of dark chocolate brings a lovely complexity.

Finish

Ardnahoe Distillery

Ardnahoe Distillery, located on the northern tip of the island of Islay in Scotland, is the latest addition to this famous whisky island, known for its distinctive peated whiskies. The distillery, established in 2018 by the Laing family, is beautifully situated between the Sound of Islay and the Paps of Jura, with spectacular views over the strait and rugged landscape.

A special feature of Ardnahoe is the use of traditional distilling with worm tubs, which creates a rich, full-bodied flavour with added depth and complexity. The water for production comes from Loch Ardnahoe, which contributes to the purity of their whisky. The distillery is focused on producing classic Islay whiskies with a distinct peat smoke profile, combined with fruity and floral notes.

Although still young, Ardnahoe has quickly gained a reputation through the experienced Laing family. Ardnahoe adds a new dimension to Islay's rich whisky tradition, with a perfect balance between tradition and innovation.
