Tasting note

Nose

The nose opens with an inviting mix of rich sherry notes, such as sultanas and figs, combined with a hint of toasted nuts and toffee. Warm spices such as cinnamon and a subtle hint of orange peel add vibrancy to the nose.

Taste

On the tongue, a full and layered flavour unfolds. Sweet notes of honey and caramel are perfectly balanced by the rich, fruity influences of ripe plums and dried apricots. The sherry casks provide a deep, dark chocolatey complexity, while the oak adds a pleasant spiciness with hints of clove and a touch of pepper. The texture is creamy and full, thanks to the non chill-filtration, which gives the whisky an almost velvety mouthfeel.

Finish

The finish is long, warm and full, with notes of dark fruits, soft spices and a subtle hint of toasted oak that lingers.

Aberlour Distillery

Aberlour Distillery ligt in het hart van de Speyside regio, aan de samenvloeiing van de rivieren Lour en Spey in het pittoreske dorpje Aberlour. Opgericht in 1826 door James Gordon en Peter Weir, werd de distilleerderij in 1879 herbouwd door James Fleming na een verwoestende brand. Fleming, een filantroop, heeft een blijvende invloed op de gemeenschap van Aberlour achtergelaten.

Een uniek kenmerk van Aberlour is het gebruik van zuiver bronwater uit de nabijgelegen Ben Rinnes, wat bijdraagt aan de zuiverheid en het karakter van hun whisky’s. Aberlour whisky’s staan bekend om hun rijke, complexe smaakprofielen met tonen van fruit, chocolade een een subtiele kruidigheid.
