Balmenach Distillery
Balmenach Distillery is located in the heart of the Speyside region, near the village of Cromdale in Moray. Founded in 1824 by James MacGregor, shortly after the legalisation of whisky production, Balmenach has a long and rich history in the Scotch whisky tradition.
A unique feature of Balmenach is the use of pure water from the nearby Cromdale Hills, which contributes to the purity and quality of their whiskies. Balmenach whiskies are known for their robust and full flavour profiles, with notes of fruit, honey and spiciness. The distillery uses traditional copper pot stills and a slow distillation process, creating a rich and complex spirit.
Balmenach matures its whiskies mainly in ex-bourbon casks, which ensures a balanced and refined flavour. The distillery mainly produces whisky for the blended whisky industry, but Balmenach has gained a great reputation among enthusiasts.
The combination of a historic location, traditional techniques and high-quality whiskies makes Balmenach a respected name in the world of Scotch single malt whisky.
