Benrinnes 2006 - 2023 #309923

Benrinnes distillery, nestled at the foot of its namesake mountain in the heart of Speyside, is known for producing rich, full-bodied whiskies with distinctive character. This single cask expression, distilled in 2006 and bottled by Berry Bros & Rudd in 2023, matured in a hogshead and was bottled at a robust 50.2%. It offers a vibrant and elegant profile, beautifully balancing fruit, spice, and malty depth. A whisky full of charm and character that showcases the craft of both distiller and bottler.

Nose

Lightly floral and spicy with notes of green apple, honeycomb and white pepper. Hints of vanilla fudge and fresh minerality complete the bouquet.

Palate

Full and oily with flavours of stewed pears, creamy malt, marzipan and spiced loaf. The spice is lively yet balanced with citrus and gentle oak.

Finish

Long and warming. Soft oak bitterness, white pepper and a sweet touch of apple syrup. Finishes dry and elegant.

Benrinnes Distillery

Benrinnes Distillery is located in the Speyside region, at the foot of Mount Ben Rinnes, near Aberlour in Moray. Founded in 1826 by Peter Mackenzie, the distillery has a long and rich history, although it has been rebuilt several times due to fires and floods.

A unique feature of Benrinnes is its use of partial triple distillation, a rare technique in Scotland that produces a more complex spirit. The distillery uses pure spring water from Mount Ben Rinnes, which contributes to the clarity and quality of their whiskies.

Benrinnes whiskies are known for their rich, full-bodied and robust flavour profiles, with notes of chocolate, dried fruit and a hint of spiciness. The whiskies are mainly matured in ex-bourbon and sherry casks, making for a deep, complex and layered flavour experience.

Although Benrinnes is primarily used in blended whiskies, their single malts are highly prized by connoisseurs for their unique character and depth. The combination of an idyllic location, unique distilling techniques and high-quality production makes Benrinnes a respected name in the world of Scotch whisky.

Berry Bros & Rudd

Berry Bros. & Rudd is one of the oldest and most respected independent bottlers in the world. The company was founded in 1698 and is headquartered in St James's Street, London. The family business originally began as a coffee merchant, but soon expanded into the wine and spirits trade. Today, Berry Bros. & Rudd is known for its high-quality whiskies, as well as a wide range of wines and other spirits.

History

Founded in 1698 by the widow Bourne, Berry Bros. & Rudd began as a shop selling coffee, tea and spices. Soon the shop became a meeting place for London's elite, and the company expanded into selling wine and spirits. Over the years, Berry Bros. & Rudd has built strong ties with the British royal family. The company is a court supplier and has received several royal warrants throughout its long history.
