Description

The Singleton of Dufftown 18 Years is a Speyside whisky that doesn’t shout, it simply shows how beautiful gentle maturation can be. Dufftown is known for a rounded, approachable style, and at 18 years that profile gains extra depth, more creaminess and a beautifully polished oak note. This is the kind of whisky for people who love balance and comfort, without sharp edges. Expect a smooth, rich Speyside with orchard fruit, honey, vanilla, nuts and warming spice.

Tasting note
Nose

Soft and rich with ripe apple, pear and honey. Vanilla, toffee and a touch of orange peel follow, with toasted nuts and polished oak in the background.

Palate

Rounded and creamy with malt, caramel and vanilla. Orchard fruit and a light chocolate note add depth, followed by gentle spices like cinnamon and clean oak structure that rounds it out.

Finish

Long and warming with lingering honey, vanilla and soft spice. It fades slightly dry with oak and warm fruity sweetness.

Dufftown Distillery

Dufftown Distillery was built in a former mill in 1895 and began production one year later. The distillery was established during the great whisky boom at the end of the nineteenth century by Peter Mackenzie and his business partners. In 1933, Dufftown became part of Arthur Bell & Sons. This marked the beginning of its long-standing role as an important supplier of malt whisky for Bell’s, a blend that still makes use of Dufftown spirit.

During the second half of the twentieth century, the distillery was expanded several times. Dufftown has been part of Diageo since 1997. For many years, it remained largely invisible outside the world of blended Scotch, but from 2006 the single malt gained a clearer identity under the name The Singleton of Dufftown.

Dufftown is known for an approachable, well-balanced Speyside style. Slow distillation and maturation in bourbon and sherry casks create a smooth whisky with malt, nuts, honey, ripe fruit and gentle spice. This friendly character makes Dufftown suitable for newcomers, while older releases and independent bottlings also offer plenty to explore for experienced whisky enthusiasts.
