Glen Elgin Distillery
Glen Elgin Distillery is located in the Speyside region of Scotland, near the town of Elgin in Moray. Founded in 1898 by William Simpson and James Carle, the distillery has a rich history that has witnessed several ownership transitions and modernisations. Despite initial financial difficulties, Glen Elgin became an established name in the whisky world.
A unique feature of Glen Elgin is its use of a slow distillation process, which helps create a smooth and complex spirit. The distillery uses water from the Millbuies Springs, which provides a pure base for their whiskies. Glen Elgin whiskies are known for their fruity and floral flavour profiles, with notes of honey, vanilla, orchard fruit and a subtle hint of spice.
The whiskies are mainly matured in ex-bourbon casks, which ensures a balanced and refined flavour. Glen Elgin produces both single malts and whisky for blends, and their products are appreciated worldwide for their quality and complexity. The combination of a beautiful location, traditional techniques and high-quality production makes Glen Elgin a respected name in the world of Scotch whisky.
