GlenAllachie 12 years

The GlenAllachie 12 Years is a great rendition of the relatively young but increasingly popular GlenAllachie Distillery. Founded in 1967 in the Speyside region, this distillery really came into the spotlight when renowned whisky maker Billy Walker took over in 2017. Since then, GlenAllachie has made a name for itself by producing whiskies with a rich, full-bodied flavour, often matured in an interesting combination of casks.

Tasting note

Nose

Rich and inviting, with notes of honey, sultanas and caramel. Underneath are layers of dried figs, dark chocolate and a hint of clove.

Taste

Full and velvety, with a wonderful balance between sweet and spicy. The sherry influence is noticeable with notes of butterscotch, dates and orange peel. There are also hints of cinnamon and nutmeg, followed by a subtle touch of oak.

Finish

Long and rich, with lingering notes of sultanas, mocha and a hint of oak, ending with a soft, sweet spiciness.

GlenAllachie Distillery

GlenAllachie Distillery is located in the heart of the Speyside region, near the town of Aberlour in Moray. Founded in 1967 by Mackinlay, McPherson & Co, the distillery has a rich history and a reputation for producing high-quality whiskies. After several ownership transfers, GlenAllachie was acquired by whisky icon Billy Walker in 2017, leading to a revival of the distillery.

A unique feature of GlenAllachie is its focus on artisanal production methods and the use of a wide range of casks for maturation. The distillery uses water from nearby Ben Rinnes, which contributes to the purity and character of their whiskies.
