GlenAllachie 12 Years French Virgin Oak is an expression where wood influence takes centre stage. After initial maturation in American oak, this Speyside single malt received a unique finish in virgin French oak casks from the Haute-Garonne region. These fine-grained, lightly toasted casks give the whisky a rich texture and layered complexity. The result is a spicy, creamy and elegant dram that showcases Billy Walker’s cask mastery – bold, balanced and full of character.

Tasting Notes

Nose

Delightful aromas of toasted almonds, vanilla, crème brûlée and juicy pear. Followed by notes of cinnamon, ginger and fresh oak.

Palate

Full and spicy with flavours of honey, butter biscuit, toasted oak and citrus zest. The French oak adds an elegant dryness and gentle tannins that give structure.

Finish

Medium to long with warm spice, a light oak bitterness, vanilla and a hint of freshly baked bread.

GlenAllachie Distillery

GlenAllachie Distillery is located in the heart of the Speyside region, near the town of Aberlour in Moray. Founded in 1967 by Mackinlay, McPherson & Co, the distillery has a rich history and a reputation for producing high-quality whiskies. After several ownership transfers, GlenAllachie was acquired by whisky icon Billy Walker in 2017, leading to a revival of the distillery.

A unique feature of GlenAllachie is its focus on artisanal production methods and the use of a wide range of casks for maturation. The distillery uses water from nearby Ben Rinnes, which contributes to the purity and character of their whiskies.
