Glenlossie 13 years 2011 - 2024 #1290 Glens & Valleys
The Glenlossie 13 years 2011 - 2024 #1290 Glens & Valleys is a refined single malt whisky, characterised by its rich notes of ripe peaches, honey and soft spices, harmoniously interwoven with subtle oak influences.
Tasting note
Nose
This Glenlossie begins with an inviting nose of ripe peaches and apricots, accompanied by notes of honey and vanilla. There are also delicate floral nuances and a subtle hint of fresh herbs, such as mint and basil.
Taste
On the palate, this whisky is silky smooth and elegant, with a balanced taste of juicy stone fruits, such as peaches and nectarines, mixed with creamy honey and butterscotch. Light notes of ginger and cinnamon add spicy depth, while soft oak influences offer subtle complexity.
Finish
The finish is long and refined, with lingering accents of sweet vanilla, ripe fruit and a hint of spice. The honeyed malt lingers on the tongue, with a soft, warming oak aftertaste that slowly fades.
Glenlossie Distillery
Glenlossie Distillery is located in the Speyside region of Scotland, near the town of Elgin in Moray. Founded in 1876 by John Duff, Glenlossie has a rich history of producing high-quality single malt whiskies. Picturesquely situated in a valley surrounded by green hills, the distillery uses pure spring water from nearby Millbuies Springs, which contributes to the purity of their whiskies.
A unique feature of Glenlossie is the use of so-called "purifiers" on the stills, a technique that helps create a lighter and purer spirit. Glenlossie whiskies are known for their delicate and refined flavour profiles, with notes of grass, green apple, pear and a subtle hint of spice. The whiskies are mainly matured in ex-bourbon casks, which ensures a smooth and balanced flavour.
Although Glenlossie primarily produces blended whiskies, such as the well-known Haig blends, their single malts are also highly prized for their finesse and complexity. The combination of an idyllic location, unique production processes and high-quality whiskies makes Glenlossie a respected name in the world of Scotch whisky.
