Pittyvaich Distillery
Pittyvaich Distillery was located in the Speyside region, near Dufftown in Moray. Founded in 1974 by Arthur Bell & Sons, the distillery operated for a relatively short time and closed in 1993. Despite its short existence, Pittyvaich has left a lasting impression in the world of whisky.
For Pittyvaich, the focus was on producing light, delicate whiskies intended primarily for use in blends such as Bell's. The distillery used traditional copper pot stills and drew its water from the Dufftown Springs, which contributed to the purity and quality of the whisky.
Pittyvaich whiskies are known for their subtle and refined flavour profiles, with notes of flowers, fruit and a slight spiciness. The whiskies were mainly matured in ex-bourbon casks, which ensured a smooth and elegant flavour. Today, Pittyvaich single malts are rare and sought after among aficionados, collectors and investors because of their unique character and limited availability. The distillery may be gone, but its heritage lives on in the remaining bottles that offer a glimpse of this special Speyside whisky.
Duncan Taylor
Duncan Taylor & Co. Ltd. is one of the most respected names in the world of independent whisky bottlers. With a history dating back to 1938 and a commitment to quality and craftsmanship, Duncan Taylor offers a wide range of whiskies loved by connoisseurs and collectors alike. Their focus on single cask releases, old and rare whiskies, and innovative product lines makes them a unique and influential player in the whisky industry.
History
Duncan Taylor & Co. Ltd. was founded in 1938 by Abe Rosenberg, a New York-based whisky dealer and collector. In the early years, the company operated mainly as a whisky dealer, but over time it expanded its activities to whisky selection and bottling.
Over decades, Duncan Taylor accumulated an impressive stock of whisky casks from various distilleries in Scotland. This stock included both single malt and single grain whiskies, and some of the casks today are decades old.
