Tasting notes Ruben Luyten - WhiskyNotes: Score 89/100
Nose: a rather candied fruitiness. Barley syrup, ripe bananas, cooked apples and orange sweets. Creamy custard. Honey or even mead. Hints of herbs and branches in the background, with dusty hay and a warm woody touch as well.
Mouth: great, with an oily texture and reminding me of the Littlemill fruitiness, albeit with a slightly thicker texture and some liqueur-like notes. Orange candy, apricots and pink grapefruit. Hints of fruit tea and grassy tannins. Honey and candied ginger. A warming old Speyside profile.
Finish: medium. There’s light mint and eucalyptus now, melon, honey and warm, but slightly green oak.
A fairly gentle Speysider with a mature, full-bodied fruity core. It shows all distilleries have some very good casks, even the ones with very little fame.
