Millstone 4 years 2020 - 2024 Amontillado Cask Special No.33

This malt whisky is dark, rich and luscious. The whisky expresses those typical notes you would expect from a full maturation on an amontillado sherry cask. The whisky has notes of orange and sultanas. When you give the whisky some time in your glass, the aromas become warmer and deeper and the complex character unfolds. The unique characteristics of this whisky come from the use of a crystalline wort slowly fermented for 7 days and the slow distillation method with the relatively early cut point. After distillation, the whisky has had a full maturation in amontillado casks that give it its beautiful colour and contribute to its elegant and rich warm notes.

Tasting note

Nose

Fresh and citrusy when just poured, but with a little time it develops into a deeper complex whisky with a distinct lemon and citrus character to balance the notes of dried sultanas and chocolate.

Taste

Luxurious and rich, wonderfully balanced. The character of full maturation in amontilla casks, balanced by citrus aromas, combined to create a whisky with a rich, warm, dried-fruit quality likely from the casks and, in the background, the distinctive spiciness and a pleasant bitter note that adds complexity.

Finish

Medium-bodied and lush with an elegant and pleasant sweetness.
