Nose

Ripe pear and green apple give way to clove, cinnamon and a whisper of vanilla oak.

Full-bodied and smooth with flavours of toffee, dried apricot, honeycomb and a touch of peppery oak.

Nikka, one of Japan's most renowned whisky producers, was founded in 1934 by Masataka Taketsuru, the pioneer of the Japanese whisky industry. Taketsuru studied the craft of whisky distilling in Scotland and brought this knowledge to Japan, where he first helped set up the Yamazaki distillery before founding his own company, Nikka.

Nikka has two main distilleries: Yoichi, located on the northern island of Hokkaido, and Miyagikyo, in the picturesque Miyagi prefecture. Yoichi Distillery is famous for its robust, smoky whiskies, produced using direct coal-fired heating of the pot stills, which creates a powerful and complex flavour.
