Description

Château Mouton Rothschild Pauillac Premier Cru Classé 2011

Château Mouton Rothschild Pauillac Premier Cru Classé 2011 is a legendary top Bordeaux from Pauillac in the Haut-Médoc. As a Premier Cru Classé in the highest echelon of Bordeaux estates, this wine combines power, complexity, and finesse with outstanding aging potential. The 2011 vintage yields a serious, layered expression of classic Pauillac: deep dark fruit, minerality, tobacco and subtle spice.

Tasting Notes

Colour

Deep ruby red with hints of garnet at the rim.

Aroma

An intense, complex bouquet of blackcurrant, cassis, plum, cedar, graphite, tobacco, and subtle earthy and spice notes.

Taste

Full-bodied and layered with flavours of dark fruit - cassis and plum - supported by subtle oak, cedar, chocolate, and mineral nuances. Firm yet refined tannins give the wine structure and impressive length.

Finish

Long, powerful, and harmonious with lingering dark fruit, elegant oak influence, and refined spice.

Food Pairing

Excellent with grilled or roasted red meats, rack of lamb, rich game dishes, roasted vegetables, or hearty sauces. Also superb with aged, hard cheeses.

Producer

Château Mouton Rothschild is one of the most famous and prestigious wine estates in the world. Located in Pauillac (Bordeaux) and owned by the Rothschild family since the 18th century, Mouton Rothschild is celebrated for wines that balance power and elegance, iconic label art, and relentless quality. The grapes come from low-yielding gravel soils and the wines see extended aging in French oak, contributing to their depth, complexity, and longevity.

Château Mouton Rothschild

Château Mouton Rothschild is one of Bordeaux’s most famous wine estates, situated in the Pauillac appellation. In 1853, Baron Nathaniel de Rothschild acquired the property then known as Château Brane-Mouton and gave it its present name. A new era began in 1922, when Baron Philippe de Rothschild took charge. In 1924, he decided that the entire production should be bottled at the château, an innovative step at the time that was later followed by many other leading Bordeaux estates.

Since 1945, each vintage label has featured an original work specially created by a celebrated contemporary artist. This distinctive connection between wine and art became one of the most recognisable traditions in the wine world. In 1973, Château Mouton Rothschild was elevated to Premier Cru Classé status. The vineyards are planted on deep gravel soils, where Cabernet Sauvignon performs particularly well. The wines are renowned for their power, concentration, refined structure and exceptional ageing potential, while retaining elegance and aromatic depth.
