Description

Conte di Campiano Sangiovese del Conte 2024

This is a Sangiovese that delivers exactly what you want: juicy red fruit, bright acidity, and that classic Italian herbal edge that makes everything taste better. Not too heavy, not too complicated - just enough character to stand out. Perfect for everyday drinking, and more than capable at the dinner table.

Tasting Note

Colour

Bright ruby red with a subtle purple sheen.

Nose

Cherry and raspberry, alongside red plum, violets, and a herbal touch of oregano, bay leaf and a hint of pepper.

Palate

Dry and lively, with plenty of juicy red fruit and a fresh, slightly firm structure. Cherry, redcurrant and a touch of cranberry lead, followed by Italian herbs and a subtle earthy note. Tannins are soft, acidity brings energy, keeping the wine dangerously drinkable.

Finish

Medium length and fresh, lingering on cherry, herbs and a lightly drying grip that suits the style.

Food Pairing

Made for anything with tomato: pasta al pomodoro, pizza margherita, lasagne and meatballs in sugo. Also great with grilled chicken, aubergine, mushrooms, or a snack board with salami and hard cheeses. Serve slightly chilled if you want an extra fresh feel.

Producer

Conte di Campiano focuses on approachable Italian wines built around fruit, balance and pure drinkability. Sangiovese del Conte is their honest, classic take—smooth enough for any moment, yet packed with that unmistakable Sangiovese energy that instantly feels like Italy.

Conte di Campiano

Conte di Campiano is an Italian wine range created by a family-owned producer from Veneto in northern Italy. Its name is connected to a local tale about a count who paused during his travels among the hills of the Val Tramigna. From an elevated position, he looked out across vineyards, houses and the surrounding countryside. The landscape and the scent of young wine made such an impression that he decided to remain there. From that moment onwards, local people are said to have known him as the Conte di Campiano.

The company behind the label was established in the late 1950s and developed from its home near Verona. Conte di Campiano brings wines from several Italian regions together under one recognisable name, while respecting the grape varieties, styles and traditions associated with each area. The collection reveals both the sunny south and the cooler north of Italy, combining a distinctive Italian identity with an approachable style of winemaking.
