The Connétable de Talbot Saint-Julien 2018 is the second wine of Château Talbot, a classic Bordeaux estate in the Saint-Julien appellation of the Médoc. This wine blends the structure and finesse of a great Bordeaux with a slightly more approachable character. The 2018 vintage brings ripe fruit and soft tannins while preserving Saint-Julien’s signature balance between power and elegance.

Producer

Château Talbot is a historic winery in Saint-Julien, known for producing structured, elegant Bordeaux with great ageing potential. The Connétable range is the estate’s second wine, offering a representative expression of the terroir with fresh fruit, refined tannins, and harmonious balance - ideal for enjoying earlier than the Grand Vin but still unmistakably Bordeaux in character.

Connétable Talbot

Connétable Talbot is the second wine of Château Talbot, a historic wine estate from Saint-Julien in Bordeaux, France. The château takes its name from Constable John Talbot, an English military commander and governor of Guyenne who was killed at the Battle of Castillon in 1453. Château Talbot was recognised as a Fourth Growth in the Bordeaux Classification of 1855. Since Désiré Cordier acquired the estate in 1918, successive generations of the same family have continued its development.

The vineyard covers approximately 111 hectares and forms an almost continuous block across the gravelly hilltops of Saint-Julien. Tradition and modern technology are combined in both the vineyard and winery, with individual parcels vinified separately and the grapes subjected to a rigorous selection. Connétable Talbot was introduced in the 1970s, making it one of the earliest second wines of the Médoc. It is produced with the same attention as Château Talbot, but is generally approachable sooner and offers an excellent introduction to the character and classical style of the estate.
