Tasting Notes

Colour

Deep ruby red with garnet hues at the rim.

Aroma

Complex and layered aromas of ripe cherry, blackcurrant, and plum, followed by cedarwood, tobacco, graphite, cocoa, and fine spice.

Taste

Powerful yet elegant, showing concentrated dark fruit, fresh acidity, and firm, ripe tannins. The oak is seamlessly integrated, supporting the structure without overpowering it. A wine of tension, depth, and precision.

Finish

Long and persistent, with fruit, spice, and oak notes slowly merging on the finish.

Bodegas LAN is a Spanish winery from Rioja. It was established in the early 1970s by a group of wine enthusiasts who were captivated by the landscape, hospitality and wine culture of the region. The name LAN is formed from the initials of Logroño, Álava and Navarra, the three provinces across which the Rioja wine region extends. From the outset, the ambition was to produce recognisable Rioja and introduce it to wine lovers beyond Spain.

The winery works with estate-owned vineyards and grapes supplied by local growers, many of whom have maintained relationships with LAN for several decades. A particularly distinctive part of the estate lies within a bend of the River Ebro, sheltered by the surrounding mountains. In the cellar, the classical ageing traditions of Rioja are given a contemporary interpretation, combining experience with a willingness to explore new ideas. The wines therefore remain firmly rooted in the region while expressing the recognisable and open character that Bodegas LAN has developed within that tradition.
