Expressive aromas of blackberry, black cherry, and plum, complemented by black pepper, sweet spices, cocoa, and a light smoky note.

Full and rounded with ripe dark fruit, soft yet present tannins, and warm spice. The structure is smooth, with enough freshness to keep the wine lively and balanced.

Medium to long, spicy and fruit-driven, with a soft, warming finish.

Producer

Casa Ermelinda Freitas is a respected family-owned winery from the Península de Setúbal, known for its consistent quality and generous style. By combining modern winemaking with tradition, the estate produces wines that are full-flavoured yet balanced and approachable.

Casa Ermelinda Freitas

Casa Ermelinda Freitas is a historic family-owned wine producer from Portugal’s Setúbal Peninsula. Its story began in 1920, when the family devoted itself to viticulture in a region where winemaking has formed part of everyday life for generations. The company was continued and developed by successive generations of women. Its wines were initially sold mainly in larger quantities, but from the 1990s onwards increasing emphasis was placed on bottling under its own name and building a distinctive identity.

Over the years, Casa Ermelinda Freitas developed into one of the established wineries of the region. Its vineyards lie in a sunny landscape cooled by air currents from the nearby rivers and Atlantic Ocean. Local grape varieties hold an important place, alongside other varieties well suited to the climate. Investments in the winery allowed generations of knowledge to be combined with modern winemaking. Casa Ermelinda Freitas has consequently established a distinctive position within the diverse wine landscape of Setúbal.
