Tasting Note

Colour

Deep ruby red with a dark core and a slight garnet rim.

Nose

Black cherry, ripe plum and blackberry, supported by cedar, cocoa, tobacco and warm spices. In the background, a subtle touch of vanilla and dried herbs.

Palate

Dry and full-bodied, with concentrated dark fruit and a firm, ripe tannin structure. Blackberry, plum and black cherry are followed by chocolate, spice and a gentle oak influence. The wine feels powerful and layered, with enough freshness to keep its richness well shaped.

Finish

Long and warming, lingering on dark fruit, cocoa, spice and refined oak.

Food Pairing

Lovely with red meat, roast lamb, game, stews and hearty barbecue dishes. Also suitable with rich pasta dishes, mushrooms, mature hard cheeses and dishes featuring rosemary or thyme.

Quinta da Alorna is a historic wine estate from the Tejo region in central Portugal. Its history stretches back more than three centuries and is closely connected to the Portuguese nobility and the landscape surrounding the River Tagus. The name refers to the title Marquis of Alorna, which was granted to the estate’s owner during the eighteenth century. The property later passed into the hands of the present family, which has now continued Quinta da Alorna for five generations.

The extensive estate lies on the southern bank of the Tagus and includes vineyards, agricultural land, woodland and natural areas. Over the centuries, the river has shaped the landscape and contributes to the fertile soils and local climate. In the winery, regional traditions are combined with modern techniques, with both Portuguese and international grape varieties playing a role. Quinta da Alorna therefore reveals the diversity of the Tejo region, connecting a rich past with a contemporary approach to Portuguese wine.
