Bodegas La Corimbo 2019
Since 2006, Bodegas Roda has embarked on a new adventure. After a 20-year trajectory, as one of the most prestigious wineries in the D.O.Ca Rioja, it decided to use its knowledge and experience to diversify into the D.O. Ribera del Duero with Bodegas La Horra. It began a survey through the Spanish territory in search of the best terroirs for growing Tempranillo grapes outside Rioja. The region that showed the best aptitude according to the criteria used was Ribera del Duero and, within this DO, the area of La Horra in Burgos province. In 2009, Bodegas La Horra was born with CORIMBO and CORIMBO I. Pleasant wines with finesse, character, elegance and ageing ability at the top of Ribera del Duero.
The La Horra area was chosen for its old vineyards, the potential and complexity of its Tempranillo grapes, but also for being a new area of the DO. A necessary condition to work out the style of wines they seek. It is an area of prestige and a long tradition of growing vines dating back to pre-Roman times.
In the DO Ribera del Duero, the predominant climate is continental with a significant thermal jump between day and night. This characteristic translates into highly aromatic wines with structure.
Corimbo is aged for 14 months in wooden barrels of which 80% are French oak and 20% American. The colour is intense and cherry red. The nose is very intense with a profile of red and black fruits with expressive aromas of aromatic plants and the scent of the pine forest after the rain. Lovely integrated wood aromas. The wine is robust and mouth-filling with a nice body. Aromas of red and black fruits like cherry and blackberry appear emphatically. The tannins are present but of very good quality. The wine is fresh, elegant and lively with great finesse and a velvety finish.
Perfect with roast meat or as an accompaniment to stews.
