Bodegas La Horra Corimbo 2019
Bodegas La Horra is the Ribera del Duero project of the prestigious Rioja estate Bodegas Roda. This high-altitude region along the Duero River in northwestern Spain is known for its bold yet elegant red wines made from the Tempranillo grape, locally called Tinta del País. The Corimbo 2019 is a beautiful expression of the modern Ribera style: powerful and expressive, but with finesse and freshness.
Tasting Note
Nose
The nose is intense and pure, with aromas of black cherry, blackberry, and ripe plum. Hints of violet, fresh herbs, and subtle oak add elegance and complexity.
Palate
On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, juicy, and perfectly balanced. Dark fruits like blueberry and blackcurrant are layered with notes of clove, cocoa, and graphite. The texture is silky, with a vibrant interplay between ripeness and acidity.
Finish
The finish is long, mineral, and refined, with lingering notes of spice, fruit, and a touch of toast. A wine with character and elegance, enjoyable both now and with some age.
Bodegas La Horra
Founded by Bodegas Roda, Bodegas La Horra was created to explore the personality of Tempranillo outside of Rioja. The team chose Ribera del Duero for its altitude, continental climate, and abundance of old bush vines. The vineyards around the village of La Horra are organically farmed, with a focus on biodiversity and a deep respect for the land. Corimbo is their entry-level wine, yet it comes from carefully selected plots of old vines. Fermentation is carried out with native yeasts, followed by aging in French and American oak barrels. The result is a wine of depth, power, and finesse – unmistakably Ribera, with the elegance of Roda.
