Casisano Brunello Di Montalcino 2018
Casisano is set among the quiet hills of Tuscany and surrounded by noble vineyards and majestic olive trees. It is one of the oldest estates in Montalcino and owned by Tommasi since March 2015.
Casisano encompasses 22 hectares of Sangiovese Grosso vineyards and is situated on a beautiful natural terrace overlooking the south-eastern part of Montalcino near SantÂAngelo in Colle and St Antimo Abbey. The soil is rich in limestone, marl, clay and galestro, complemented by volcanic rock. 10 plots are currently distinguished, each with its own character, determined by the composition of the soil and an altitude ranging from 400 to 480 metres. Casisano's goal is to make full use of the 22 hectares of Sangiovese vineyards, exploiting the gifts of this beautiful estate and turning each vine into a great bottle of wine.
The different ages of the vineyards and the diversity in subsoil and altitude creates a broad aromatic expression in the Sangiovese grape. The result is an intense and very elegant wine, typical of the terroir with a perfect combination of structure, acidity and persistence.
The wine cellar is the heart of the winery. The large casks of Slavonian oak are characteristic of the Tommasi family style that, with their winemaking tradition and respect, manages to achieve perfect elegance and expressiveness in each wine. The precious Casisano wines continue to refine and age in the harmonious silence of the wine cellar.
Brunello di Montalcino from Casisano stands out for its elegance and beautiful deep ruby red colour.
Beautifully concentrated on the palate with aromas of red berries, freshness and complexity perfectly balanced. A lingering finish with a round body and interesting, silky tannins. A wine with potential and elegance and perfectly suited to continue aging in bottle for a long time.
Casisano recommends decanting the wine at least an hour before serving to fully express its quality.
This wine is perfect with a fine roast leg of lamb with rosemary, pheasant stew or roast pigeon with truffles.
