Lopez de Haro Rioja Reserva 2018

At Hacienda López de Haro, we are proud of our origins from La Rioja and understand the wine traditions of our region, we want to capture the essence of our land in our wine. Our unyielding dedication and respect for the grape and the winemaking process allow us to transfer the terroir to the grape. Our starting point was the historical style of fine wines from the region, to create a wine with a modern style that is easy to drink. With the complexity of an exquisite wine, where the fruit is central. A balanced and round wine that is a true reflection of Rioja's character.

Grape variety/vinification

This wine is made from Tempranillo and Graciano grapes. The grapes come from old vineyards about 30 years old with low yields, located on poor soil in the Ebro terraces of La Sonsierra (La Rioja). The grapes are picked by hand between late September and late October. After harvesting, the grapes are soaked for 10 days and then fermented at 25ºC in large 30,000-kg barrels. The wine matures for 20 months in French and American oak barrels.

Tasting note

This wine achieves a perfect balance between spiciness, vanilla and ripe fruit. In the background, notes of tobacco and cocoa stand out, created by barrel aging. The essence of this wine is subtlety and elegance. It has a light character, yet is very round and enveloping. With good acidity, it lingers long on the palate, leaving fresh, balsamic notes.

This wine pairs beautifully with roasted leg of lamb, grilled vegetables and mature cheeses.
