Cave De Tain Les Hauts Du Fief Crozes-Hermitage 2017

Intriguing, complex red Rhone wine. With exciting aromas of bacon, blackberries, cassis and some floral notes. Savoury, smoky and earthy. Concentrated, with fine acidity and ripe tannins and, as an encore, a very long finish. Can age for up to 10 years.

Food pairing

Ultimate dinner wine. Gastronomic enjoyment with grilled meat: duck breast, juicy red meat and lamb chops. When the wine is more mature, think also of game and mature cheeses.

Goes well with: red meat, lamb, firmer poultry, game, aged cheeses.

Cave De Tain

Cave de Tain is a modern cooperative that controls 50% of production in the northern Rhone. Major appellations of origin are Crozes Hermitage, Hermitage and Saint Joseph.

The Cave de Tain unites some 370 farmers in a company with vision, passion for quality and a feel for the market. In the northern Rhône, they lead the way with a share of over 50% of production.The vineyards are located both on the right bank, St.-Joseph, Cornas and St.-Peray, and on the left bank, Crozes Hermitage and Hermitage, of the Rhône and are no more than 20 kilometres from the Cave. For many international winemakers, the wines produced here are the reference for their Syrah production.The company's crown jewels are its own vineyards on Mount Hermitage. The steeply terraced vineyards with granite soils bring out the best in the Syrah grape. International ratings between 90 and 100 points are "normal" for these wines. Cave de Tain owns as much as 25% of this unique piece of viticultural land.
