Berthier Pouilly Fumé Le Champ Lopin 2022
Right in the heart of the Sancerre, Coteaux de Giennois and Pouilly Fumé appellations, we find the iconic winery of the Berthier family. For five generations, the craft of winemaking has passed from father to son, with Clément and Florian Berthier at the helm since 2012. They have divided the tasks well: Florian, with his love of terroir, is responsible for the vineyards, while Clément can mostly be found in the cellar. A clever piece of teamwork, where the love of soil, nature and environment has ensured a Bio certification in 2022.
The Berthier family's roots are in the Coteaux de Giennois appellation, which to this day they consider the flagship of their business. Later, vineyards were added in the appellations Sancerre, Menetou Salon and Pouilly Fumé.
Central to Clément and Florian's wines is the typical terroir that makes wines from the Loire so beloved. Freshness, minerality and fruit intensity predominate. Without exception, the wines are flawless, elegant and subtle. As Clément so aptly puts it: ‘Vinification is first and foremost an art, a philosophy’. And you can taste it!
