Story:
In monastic life, a prior is the "Primus Inter Pares" or first among equals. He is therefore not above but among his fellow brethren, even though he is the superior. Priories are usually small and have a relatively flat organisation, while abbeys are large and more hierarchically organised.

Taste:
Full-bodied dark beer with a nice balance of sweet, bitter, sour and roasted notes of chocolate. Drunk fresh, the fresh hop aromas come out clearly. Stored a little longer, notes of caramel and red fruit take over.
