American Whiskey is hard to pigeonhole. It can be made from a variety of ingredients. Bourbon, produced from a minimum of 51% corn, Rye, made from a minimum of 51% rye, Corn, made from a minimum of 80% corn, Tennessee made from a minimum of 51% corn, but only from the state of Tennessee. Nowadays, several distilleries also produce Single Malt from 100% malted barley. So there is actually no country in the world where the diversity is as great as in the United States.
