When we were approached by the friends of Wu DRAM Clan if we wanted to collaborate on a bottling of our own in the Lighthouse series, we were of course immediately enthusiastic.

As we had never released a Bourbon under our own label before, that was our preference. Of course, taste was most important, so first we had to taste it. American whiskey is made from different grains (mainly corn) and its taste is therefore difficult to compare with classic Malt Whisky.

When we opened the sample we immediately became very delighted.

Tasting Notes:

Colour: Deep gold

Smell: Brioche, gingerbread, mead, notes of ripe bananas and mirabelle. Also the scent of a bunch of field flowers. On longer sniffs, also some aniseed and menthol. Very special and hard to name, but very pleasant.

Flavour: The higher alcohol immediately wakes up the taste buds. Despite its youthful age, the cask has already done its best. A longer maturation is therefore definitely not desirable. The sharp edges are totally gone. A nice sweetness from the corn and from the new American oak. And a hint of gingerbread here too. Nicely spicy without being sharp.

Finish: A nice peppery aftertaste with a slight hint of cinnamon.

Overall impression: This fits perfectly into Passion for Whisky's portfolio. So one-off Passion for Whiskey for this occasion.
